On Monday, October 15th, Lincoln Graham Mills was welcomed into the world. He was 7.7 lbs and 19 1/2″ long. It’s been over a week now that Lincoln has been with us and we are learning more about him everyday. And that’s what this post is about, Jeremiah 1.5.
If you aren’t familiar with this verse, it’s the one where God tells us, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.” It’s a verse that most have probably heard several times. I had always just accepted it as a fact and never gave it a second thought. But with our second son, I saw the full meaning. Before, the verse was nothing more than a staple of my own beliefs, but now it is more easily quantified. We are just learning about his personality and God already knows everything about him. God already has a plan made and can see his path, when only a few months ago my wife and I finally agreed on his name. He knows what Lincoln will be like and what he’ll end up doing in life. He knows whether Lincoln will have to wear glasses like me or whether he’ll hate mayonnaise like his mother. While his own mom and dad are meeting him for the first time, God’s known him for eternity.
For me this was just a simple realization of the awesomeness of God. As if having a healthy child wasn’t enough, God found a way to show me more.

God speaks to us in ways that we often cannot comprehend. The wonderful thing about it is that when He speaks to us, there is no question as to the message He wants us to hear. Congratulations on the arrival of Lincoln! He is truly a blessing from God.
So true. Thank you very much!
Early Christmas gift. Best wishes.
It’s a good one. Thank you!
How wonderful. An early Christmas gift of great joy. Best wishes
Thanks!
LGM, same as me by choice or coincidence I still feel honored. When YOUR child is born and you see thief face for the first time, you count ten fingers and ten toes you can not help but to think there is a God and this is another miracle. You wipe away your tears, look around to see if anyone noticed you, but then you really don’t care whether they did or not. That is your child and you are bubbling over with feelings, and at that time the world is perfect and nothing else matters.
Very well put! Thanks!
Fine baby. God’s plans for Lincoln’s life will never be altered. He will become nations ruler. Wherever he goes as he grows, the grace and favor of WHOM has known him even before he was formed will rest upon him. And the covenant and power in the blood of Jesus Christ, will speak for him in every difficult. Congratulations Tyler.
Thank you!
